Abstract This specification covers the standard requirements for nitration grade toluene. The material shall be tested and sampled in accordance with standard test methods and practices and shall conform to the following requirements: volume of non-aromatic hydrocarbons; acid wash color; copper strip corrosion; appearance which shall be a clear liquid, free of sediment and haze; color in the platinum-cobalt scale; and distillation range. Scope 1.1 This specification covers nitration grade toluene. 1.2 The following applies to all specified limits in this specification: for purposes of determining conformance with this specification, an observed value or a calculated value shall be rounded off “to the nearest unit” in the last right-hand digit used in expressing the specification limit, in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
