このSAE規格は、自動車のエアブレーキシステムの配管で使用する球形およびフランジスリーブ圧縮タイプのチューブ継手の完全な一般および寸法仕様をカバーしています。球形スリーブ圧縮タイプ図1A〜5および表1〜3は、SAE J1149、タイプ1に準拠した焼きなまし銅合金チューブでの使用を目的としています。フランジ付きスリーブ圧縮タイプ図6A〜11および表4〜6は、ナイロンチューブSAEJ844での使用を目的としています。SAE J844、エアブレーキチューブで使用するチューブ継手の他の設計を制限または排除することを意図したものではありません。SAE J844 のパフォーマンス要件は、SAE J1131 でカバーされています。自動車用エアブレーキシステムでの使用を目的とした再利用可能な(プッシュして接続する)フィッティングの性能要件については、SAEJ1131を参照してください。
