このSAE航空宇宙規格(AS)は、作動油の粒子状汚染の汚染クラスとレベルを定義し、関連データの報告方法(付録A)を含みます。選択された汚染レベルは、広く受け入れられているNAS 1638清浄度クラスに基づいています。NAS 1638清浄度クラス仕様からAS4059クラス仕様への変換が定義されています。NAS 1638クラスとAS4059クラスおよびレベルの比較が提供され、定義され、相違点が説明されています(付録B)。パーティクルの重量に基づくNAS 1638クラスは、これらのクラスには適用されず、含まれません。指定された粒度範囲における流体の汚染レベルを記述するための汚染コードが追加されました。
